Historical version 17 of Kake's Projects (view current version)

Currently on the go (last update Weds 28 Aug 2003)

See Kake Makes blog for all the boring details of what I did when.

  • black fishnet crochet jumper (back and front done, working on first sleeve)
  • Kake's Lilac Long Sleeve Top - Coats Patons pattern, using the Italian cotton. Even with 3.25mm needles it's swatching at 12cm instead of 10cm per 22st, but I really want to wear this yarn soon so I'm making a couple of sizes down and hoping for the best.
  • purple tank top (put together, shoulders too wide, need to undo border and shorten shoulders)
  • purple crochet baby trousers for Katy (need to attach poppers)
  • strawberry baby hat for Katy (needs sewing together (must find yarn))
  • bright pink baby jumper for Katy (find yarn, make neckline border, sew on buttons)
  • crochet socks - really finished, and have been worn, but I want to put some elastic in and maybe make the cuffs longer

Messing about with

  • Patons green 100% cotton chenille - will probably crochet into a jumper photo
    • bought from ebay £11 plus £2.50 postage for 10x50g balls
  • jillybeads green 2mm bead mix - knitting
  • pale purple (lilac) Italian DK cotton 1kg (ebay) photo
  • 2-ply red yarn with glitter thread (ebay) photo

Plastic bag coaster

See also Plastic Bag Crochet.

  • Cut up a plastic bag in a spiral about 1cm width. Use a 3.50mm crochet hook to make a slip loop and then 4ch. Join the last ch to the slip loop with a ss.
  • 1st round: 12dc in ring ending 1dc in first dc. Place a marker after this 1dc.
  • 2nd round: 1dc, (1 dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
  • 3rd round: 1dc, (2dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
  • 4th round: 1dc, (3dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
  • 5th round: 1dc, (4dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
  • 6th round: 1dc, (5dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
  • Repeat 6th round until coaster is the right size.

Crocheted towel loop

Photo

  • Make slip loop and 4ch.
  • Make dc rows until long enough (leave 1cm on each end for sewing to towel).
  • Make 3dc in the last dc of the last row, instead of 1. Turn to the side and continue the row for 4dc down the edges of the rows.
  • Fold in half lengthways and continue to make dc down the edges of the rows, but working both pieces of fabric together, and skipping every other row or so to make it curve. When you reach the edge of the 5th row from the start, continue to work on one piece of fabric only.
  • Sew to towel.
