Abbreviations: ch = chain; dc = UK double crochet (US single crochet)
- Cut up a plastic bag in a spiral about 1cm width. Use a 3.50mm crochet hook to make a slip loop and then 4ch. Join the last ch to the slip loop with a ss.
- 1st round: 12dc in ring ending 1dc in first dc. Place a marker after this 1dc.
- 2nd round: 1dc, (1 dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
- 3rd round: 1dc, (2dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
- 4th round: 1dc, (3dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
- 5th round: 1dc, (4dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
- 6th round: 1dc, (5dc, 2dc in next dc) to dc above marker. Replace marker after current dc.
- Repeat 6th round until coaster is the right size.
