==Costume and Beadwork for Shards LARP==

Okay, so I (Lucy) recently went off to Wales to play a fantasy Live-Action Role-Play game called Shards. I made some costumes and accessories for myself, my nice boyfriend Robert, and the group we went with.

Robert and I were playing forest tribes-person characters, so I made two tunics, which we stencilled with animal designs, two pairs of baggy brown trousers with drawstring tops (Robert's fitted fine, but the bottoms of mine needed tying up with string), a lot of bead items and some bags and things. Oh, and a collar made of feathers.

Here are some photos of us.

The beaded items I made included a flat-round-peyote-stitch cloak brooch for myself in a wedge pattern (backed with felt and a pinback), a similar hatpin in a sunburst pattern with added feathers for Rik (who was playing our leader) and a lot of necklaces, bead charms, and other bits and bobs. Some of these will hopefully get scanned or photographed soon.

The feather collar was an interesting project. I got a lot of craft feathers in various natural and brown colours. I sewed them to a backing of felt and net, and then edged the top with more felt. It closes with a press-stud. There are no photos because it doesn't fit very well - the springiness of the feathers pushes the felt top up against my jaw. I'll keep working on it!
