First swatch - edging

- lambswool knitted double on 4mm needles
Special abbreviations:
- RSB (right side border): K1, sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif, K1
- WSB (wrong side border): sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif
Cast on 20 st.
- Row 1: RSB, P2, K6, P2, RSB.
- Row 2: WSB, K2, P6, K2, WSB.
- Row 3: RSB, P2, slip next 2 st onto cable needle leaving it at front of work, K2, K2 from cable needle, K2, P2, RSB.
- Row 4: As row 2.
- Row 5: As row 1.
- Row 6: As row 2.
- Row 7: RSB, P2, K2, slip next 2 st onto cable needle leaving it at back of work, K2, K2 from cable needle, P2, RSB.
- Row 8: As row 2.
Work 5 1/2 repeats in total, ending row 3. Cast off (I used Icelandic bind off).
Second swatch - either body or edging
Lambswool knitted double on 4mm needles. Cast on 41 stitches and work in [shadow rib]? as follows:
- Row 1: K2, (P1, K2) to end.
- Row 2: P to end.
Odd-numbered rows are the right side.

Third swatch - body
Lambswool knitted double on 7mm needles. Cast on 41 stitches and work in linen stitch as follows:
- Row 1: K1, (slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front, K1) to end.
- Row 2: K1, P1, (slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back, P1) to last stitch, K1.
Odd-numbered rows are the right side.

Fourth swatch - body
Lambswool knitted quadruple on 5.5mm needles. Cast on 26 stitches and work in stocking stitch with a garter stitch border.
Fifth swatch - edging
Special abbreviations:
- RSB (right side border): K1, sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif, K1
- WSB (wrong side border): sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif, K1, sl 1 wyif
- STw2: pass right-hand needle behind 1st st and K 2nd st in back of loop, leaving it on left-hand needle. Sl passed st purlwise onto right-hand needle and sl knitted stitch off left-hand needle.
Lambswool knitted triple on 4.5mm needles. Cast on 21 stitches and work in travelling striped rib as follows:
- Row 1: WSB, K3, P5, K3, WSB.
- Row 2: RSB, P3, STw2, K3, P3, RSB.
- Row 3: As row 1.
- Row 4: RSB, P3, K1, STw2, K2, P3, RSB.
- Row 5: As row 1.
- Row 6: RSB, P3, K2, STw2, K1, P3, RSB.
- Row 7: As row 1.
- Row 8: RSB, P3, K3, STw2, P3, RSB.

Sixth swatch - either body or detail
Lambswool knitted triple on 4.5mm needles. Cast on 27 stitches and work in butterfly block stitch as follows.
Abbreviations:
- SL5wytb: Slip 5 stitches purlwise with yarn to back of work.
- PU3strK1 (pick up 3 strands, knit 1): Put tip of right-hand needle under the three long strands formed by the slipped stitches in previous rows, and knit them together with the next stitch.
- Row 1 (right side): K to end.
- Row 2: P6, *(SL5wytb, P5), repeat from * to last st, P1.
- Row 3: K to end.
- Row 4: As row 2.
- Row 5: K to end.
- Row 6: As row 2.
- Row 7: K6, *(K2, PU3strK1, K7), repeat from * to last stitch, K1
- Row 8: P1, *(SL5wytb, P5), repeat from * to last 6 st, SL5wytb, P1.
- Row 9: K to end.
- Row 10: As row 8.
- Row 11: K to end.
- Row 12: As row 8.
- Row 13: K1, *(K2, PU3strK1, K7), repeat from * to last 6 st, K2, PU3strK1, K3.
Repeat rows 2-13 until as long as required.
